Message from Professor Enders K W Ng, Director

A few years ago when I asked a very senior surgeon about the concept of building a MIS skill training centre, he commented that it would likely be a white elephant. Not until the days when I was involved in the design and construction of the CUHK Jockey Club Minimally Invasive Surgical Skills Centre, I realize that it is definitely something more than just a vase. As you can see today, our Centre is equipped with an arsenal of state-of-the-art facilities, ranging from simulators to animal laboratory, which are meant to systematize the training of future surgeons. We are dedicated to train not only surgeons in Hong Kong, but surgeons of Asia. We are obliged to nurture not only surgeons of the next generation, but also surgeons of many generations after. I have a strong faith that the Centre will be one of the most successful training centres in the region, and it can definitely serve as a hub for conveying knowledge and skills of minimally invasive surgery around the world.
